• Hsar Htoo made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge. Patrick Peters is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 9:30 a.m. on June 27. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• German Avalos Gomez made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge. Pre-trial release is revoked. Bond is set at $2,000 cash in defendant’s name only.
• Amber Dawn Ballard made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact/contempt of court charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Douglas Allen Baker failed to appear on a no insurance charge and a driving under suspension charge and the court found him guilty on both charges. The fine on the no insurance is $325 with a $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.
• Isabel Maria Aranda made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a driving under suspension charge. a pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 2 in Magistrate Court.
• Brett Allen Ellison made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 27.
• Jesus Gonzalez Marin made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a speeding charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 27.

• On Sunday, June 8, Hsar Htoo, 55, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense-causing bodily injury.
• On Sunday, June 8, Eduardo Yepez-Vazquez, 25, was arrested for dogs at large.
• On Saturday, June 7, David Kony, 45, was arrested for violation of restricted license conditions, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, no insurance-no accident, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, speeding and operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Saturday, June 7, David Propp, 58, was arrested for trespass-first offense.
• On Saturday, June 7, Adam Clawson, 36, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury or mental illness-no intent.
• On Saturday, June 7, Steven Hayden, 61, was arrested on a warrant.

Arrests
• On Saturday, June 7, Juliet Pereda, 27, was arrested for speeding and operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Friday, June 6, Ryan Purdy, 46, was arrested on a warrant charging him with contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.
Accidents
• On Thursday, June 5, a car driven by Cara Jo Loewen, 63, of Hubbard, was eastbound on 190th Street when it struck a deer that ran in front of the car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Loewen car was estimated at $8,000.
• On Monday, June 2, an SUV driven by Argenis Santoyo, 32, of Indianpolis, Ind., was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting in the driver pulling off the roadway where the vehicle proceeded to catch fire. No injuries were reported. The rental SUV was deemed totaled and towed from the scene.
• On Sunday, June 1, a car driven by Christopher Allen Eirikson, 44, of Albion, was southbound on Marsh Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway causing sever front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Eirikson car was estimated at $5,000.
• On Saturday, May 31, an SUV driven by Kippen Jill Glenney, 47, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Glenney SUV was estimated at $10,000.
• On Thursday, May 29, an SUV driven by Denise Anahi Martinez, 25, of Ames, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Martinez SUV was estimated at $3,500.
• On Saturday, May 24, an SUV driven by Jorge Chavez-Murillo, 50, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Reed Avenue when the driver swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway, left the road to the right and went airborne resulting in undercarriage and front end damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Chavez-Martinez was arrested for operating while under the influence and failure to maintain control. Damage to the Chavez-Murillo SUV was estimated at $3,500.
