• Seth Leroy Watts made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond has been posted.

• Galene Naomi Johnson failed to appear on a driving under suspension charge and a dark windows violation charge and the court found her guilty on both charges. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50. The fine on the dark windows is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50.

• Mekala Mahala Beth Yoder made an initial appearance on an animal neglect-no serious injury or death charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2026, in Magistrate Court.

• Xavier Robert Bernal made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 8, 2026. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• A 16-year-old female made an initial appearance on a robbery-first degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 29. Bond is set at $25,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Dec. 18 Nicole Behrends, 40, was arrested on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.

• On Thursday, Dec. 18, Seth Watts, 35, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

Accidents

• On Sunday, Dec. 14, a car driven by Daniel Russell Smith, 50, of Oskaloosa, was southbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway and then hit a patch of ice coming to rest in the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Smith car was estimated at $9,000.
