Flores Silva made an initial appearance on an obstruction of emergency communications charge, a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge, a harassment-first degree charge and a false imprisonment charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on March 16. Bond is set at $4,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Daniel Charles Knapp made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. A medical furlough was granted. The University of Iowa will contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office for transport.

• Deanna Hernandez Carranza made an initial appearance on an unlawful passing of a school bus-first offense charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 8 in Magistrate Court.
