• Andrew Donald Smith made an initial appearance on 56 counts of a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is set for 11 a.m. on April 27. Bond is set at $1,000 cash.

• Angel Mauricio Fernandez Ibarra made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a theft-fifth degree charge and a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel for the new charges. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 6 in Magistrate Court. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel on the arraignment hearing which is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on May 4. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

• On Monday, April 20, Angel Fernandez Ibarra, 23, was arrested on a warrant charging him with theft-fifth degree, possession of marijuana-first offense, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

• On Sunday, April 19, a pickup driven by Shawn Kelly Flaharty, 46, of Persia, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Flaharty pickup was estimated at $3,000.

• On Sunday, April 19, immediately following the previous accident, an SUV driven by Ma Eh, 31, of Marshalltown, was struck on the passenger side by the same deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Eh SUV was estimated at $2,000.
