• Miguel Angel Garcia made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Garcia is being held without bond.
• Chuck Wood made an initial appearance on a violation of parole charge. Brian Mercy is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. Wood is being held without bond.
• David Russell Geddis made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-first offense charge, a driving while revoked charge, a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 24. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
June 3
• Ian Jordan Keifer made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of probation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Keifer is being held without bond.
• Martin Medina Cervantes made an initial appearance on two counts of a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 12. Bond is set at $4,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Maria Teresa Chavarria Alcaraz made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment on a theft-third degree charge and a theft-fourth degree charge. Julia Cutler is acting as counsel. A written arraignment was entered and a plea of not guilty.
• Samantha Lee Beadle failed to appear on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a operation without registration charge and the court found her guilty on all charges. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50. The fine on the no insurance is $325 with a $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75. The fine on the operation without registration is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50.
• Ivan Cordova made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 24 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents
• On Sunday, May 31, a car driven by Takia Ellis Rosenberger, 19, of Toledo, was eastbound on Highway 30 near Shady Oaks Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rosenberger car was estimated at $7,000.
• On Saturday, May 30, an SUV driven by Benjamin Matthew Thomas, 21, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Quarry Road when it struck a deer that exited the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Thomas SUV was estimated at $9,000.
• On Friday, May 29, a pickup driven by Jacob J. Yearous, of Nevada, Texas, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deceased deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Yearous pickup was estimated at $2,500.
• On Saturday, May 23, a car driven by Tyler Donovan Baccam, 27, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Baccam car was estimated at $5,000.
