• Fernando Vargas made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $3,000 cash in defendant's name only. Vargas was also seen on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference ahead of a jury trial charge. The District Associate Court will reschedule the pre-trial conference and the jury trial. Bond is set at $3,000 cash in defendant's name only.
• Naomi Jacqueline Rivera made an initial appearance on a burglary-third degree charge. The public defender's office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
• Angel Javier Garcia made an initial appearance on an eluding charge, a person under 21 using tobacco/vape products charge, a drag racing charge, a reckless driving charge, a failure to use headlamps when required charge, a failure to maintain control charge, two counts of an excessive speed charge and a no insurance-accident charge. The public defender's office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 27.
• A 17 year old male made an initial appearance on a person under 21 using tobacco/vape products-first offense charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 plus eight hours of community service in lieu of the surcharge and court costs.
• Christopher Charles Jensen made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 in Magistrate Court.
• A 17 year old female made an initial appearance on a person under 21 using tobacco/vape products-first offense charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with eight hours of community service in lieu of the surcharge and court costs.
• Lindsay Jo Williams made an initial appearance on an operating a non-registered vehicle charge and a no insurance charge. Williams pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the non-registered vehicle is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50. The fine on the no insurance is $325 with a $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75.
• Amanda Jo Matteson made an initial appearance on a rabies vaccination violation charge. Matteson pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• A 16 year old male made an initial appearance on a person under the age of 21 using vape products-second offense charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $135 with 12 hours of community service in lieu of the surcharge and court costs.

• On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Brittany Parra, 18, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.
• On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Naomi Rivera, 18, was arrested for burglary-third degree.
• On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Oscar Sanchez, 21, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked.

Accidents
• On Monday, Oct. 5, an SUV driven by Derek Travus Rathjen, 29, of State Center, was northbound on Sanford Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rathjen SUV was estimated at $4,500.
• On Sunday, Oct. 4, a pickup driven by Allan Ray Kinney, 59, of Union, was westbound on Summit Street when a deer struck the driver's side after bounding onto the roadway from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kinney pickup was estimated at $2,000.
