• Jose De Jesus Sanchez Soberanis made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender's office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 17.
• Glenn Edward Menter made an initial appearance on a violation of parole charge. Leah Patton is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. Menter is being held without bond.
• Michael John Aschan made an initial appearance with attorney Erin Michael Carr on a identity theft charge. The preliminary hearing is waived.
• Paytan Ashlynne Marie Mayfield made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Mayfield pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• Miguel Angel Ordaz Ochoa made an initial appearance on a harassment-third degree charge. A pre-trial conference is set at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 in Magistrate Court. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Hannah Marie Callahan made an initial appearance on a harassment-second degree charge. The public defender's office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 9:30 a.m. on Nov.. 17. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Heather Lynn Freland made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Freland pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• On Tuesday, Oct. 27, Juan Pantoja Aguilera, 31, was arrested on a warrant charging him with two counts of violation of probation.
Accidents
• On Monday, Oct. 26, a pickup driven by Eduardo Contreras Ordaz, 34, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it struck a deer that leaped out of the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Contreras Ordaz pickup was estimated at $5,000.
• On Sunday, Oct. 25, an SUV driven by Jesse Scott Adkins, 41, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that ran onto the roadway from the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Adkins SUV was estimated at $18,000.
• On Sunday, Oct. 25, a pickup driven by Cade Riley Bovenmyer, 27, of Marshalltown, was westbound on the Garwin Road when it struck a deer that exited the north ditch onto the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bovenmyer pickup was estimated at $8,000.
• On Saturday, Oct. 24, an SUV driven by Maria D. Lubbert, 55, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Reed Avenue when it collided with a deer on the front driver's side causing significant damage. Lubbert was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Lubbert SUV was estimated at $8,000.
