A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Elizabeth Ann Johnson made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 24. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Leoncio Bollas Morales, 52, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Elizabeth Johnson, 21, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury or mental illness-no intent.
• On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Daniel Counts, 35, was arrested for rabies vaccination required.

Accidents
• On Monday, Nov. 2, a car driven by Jeremy Michael Turner, 47, of Colfax, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the south ditch resulting in heavy front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Turner car was estimated at $5,000.
• On Saturday, Oct. 31, an SUV driven by Kimberly Ann Ward, 58, of Tama, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer sitting in the middle of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ward SUV was estimated at $2,000.
