Regurgitator Stevie Starr to perform at ISU

TIMES-REPUBLICAN

Professional regurgitation artist Stevie Starr will perform at Iowa State University Oct. 18. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. performance in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union. Admission is free and open to the public.

As a young boy in Scotland, Stevie Starr discovered his talent for regurgitating everyday items, such as pocket money and live bees. Starr’s unique gift has led to worldwide success, with features on Britain’s Got Talent, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Starr also currently holds two titles in the Guinness Book of World Records for swallowing half-dollar coins and hard-boiled eggs.

Appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2010, Starr impressed the judges by swallowing numbered coins and a billiard ball and then regurgitating them on demand and in order. He progressed to the semi-finals, where he swallowed judge and actress Amanda Holden’s engagement ring, followed by a locked padlock and its key. He then regurgitated the padlock, which now enclosed the engagement ring, followed by the key. Starr placed fourth in the competition that season.

Starr is not a newcomer to the ISU campus, having been a popular performer at VEISHEA for many years, but his unique gifts and stunning stage show continues to draw large crowds with every visit. Whether intrigued or horrified, Starr never fails to leave a lasting impression with audiences around the globe.
