RED, the Exhibition, opens Jan. 9

AMES — On Jan. 9, the Christian Petersen Art Museum, part of University Museums at Iowa State University, is opening the new spring semester exhibition RED that takes a lens to the color, it’s influence in art and design and the many unique interpretations. The exhibit runs through Aug. 4.

Love. Fire. Passion. Celebration. Anger. Awareness. Danger. Strength. Blood. Power. What comes to mind when you think of the color red? This exhibition is curated from the University Museums permanent collection to explore the cultural and aesthetic diversity of this vibrant hue through interpretations of art juxtaposed with statements written by ISU faculty discussing the importance of the color red to academic disciplines across campus.
