Lenihan principal moving to Cedar Falls district

Lenihan Intermediate School Principal Ralph Bryant is leaving the district this summer to take a job in Cedar Falls.

Bryant will become the new principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Cedar Falls, starting July 1. He has served as a school administrator in Marshalltown for the past 10 years.

Bryant, 40, was principal at the former Anson Middle School and co-principal at Lenihan (fifth and six grades) before heading the school as principal the past two years.

“I’ve had a great experience in Marshalltown,” Bryant said. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great people and some fantastic students and families.”

Bryant and his wife April are graduates of the University of Northern Iowa and he said they have always thought about possibly returning to Cedar Falls with their family.

“We’re excited about this opportunity, but sad to leave Marshalltown,” Bryant said.

Lisa Koester, director of human resources with the Marshalltown district, said Bryant will be missed.

“Mr. Bryant’s leadership has been vital to the educational programming at the intermediate level in the Marshalltown district,” Koester said. “He was directly involved in the restructuring of grade levels from the previous two building, 6-8 grade model to the current 5-6, 7-8 model we have today. He will be missed by staff and students.”

Koester said there is no exact timeframe for finding Bryant’s replacement, but she and Superintendent Marvin Wade will meet with Lenihan staff to work through the process. Bryant, whose last contracted day in the district will be June 30, is currently being paid $105,549 annually.

Bryant’s new salary is not set as the 2014-15 administrator contracts in his new district have not been finalized yet, according to Adrian Talbot, director of human resources with the Cedar Falls School District.

“Ralph’s extensive experience and work with Marshalltown Schools makes him a great fit for our district,” said Andy Pattee, superintendent of Cedar Falls Schools. “We are eager for him to join us in Cedar Falls Schools.”

Starting at $4.38/week.
