Marshalltown man dies from injuries in motorcycle crash
A Marshalltown man has succumbed to his injuries following a motorcycle accident a week ago.
Chad Gile, 36, of Marshalltown, died Friday after suffering severe injuries in a March 3 motorcycle accident in Marshalltown, according to family members.
The two-vehicle accident occurred when Gile’s motorcycle collided with the rear end of a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Gregory Dale Morton of Colfax on Governor Road between the intersections of Olive Street and Southridge Street at around 4 p.m. that afternoon.
Gile was later airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, where he died a week later.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that the investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
Vigil and benefits scheduled
An upcoming vigil and two fundraisers are planned for two Marshalltown residents who have died following two separate vehicular accidents earlier this month.
Marshalltown residents Derek Cisneros, 12, and Chad Gile, 36, died this week after suffering severe injuries in separate accidents in Jasper County and Marshalltown, respectively.
Cisneros, his father Victor M. Cisneros-Bravo, 50, and mother Blanca E. Cisneros-Bravo, 48, were injured after their vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Douglas Anderson, 65, of Eldridge on Iowa Highway 117 in Jasper County last Sunday. All were flown to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where Derek subsequently passed away this past Wednesday.
A Cisneros family fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Midnight Ballroom, 1700 S. Center St. #2. Tacos, tortas and burritos will be sold to benefit the family.
Meanwhile, a benefit memorial for Chad Gile and his family will be held from 3 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, April 1 at the Impala Ballroom, 1005 Lincoln Way. The event will include a silent auction, live music and food; donations will be accepted.
Gile died Friday from his injuries in a motorcycle accident on March 3.
Both Cisneros and Gile, as well as leukemia patient, Lindsey Story, are to be honored at a vigil at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Gilman Park in Gilman. Visitors are invited to bring candles and balloons for the vigil.
