Marshalltown residents involved in Jasper County crashes
Two car accidents in Jasper County, one on Sunday and the other Monday, left a total of four Marshalltown residents injured.
The Sunday accident, which left a 12-year-old Marshalltown boy hospitalized, took place on Iowa Highway 117 when Douglas Anderson, 65, of Eldridge, was headed northbound, crossed lanes and failed to yield to a south-bound vehicle driven by Marshalltown’s Victor M. Cisneros-Bravo, according to the Iowa State Patrol website.
Cisneros-Bravo, 50, and passengers Blanca E. Cisneros-Bravo, 48, and Derek Cisneros, 12, were taken from the crash site via helicopter to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The accident is under investigation.
Monday’s accident involving two Marshalltown men, Nathaniel Haines, 26, and Michael Davis, 21, took place on Interstate 80. The red Chevrolet truck, reported stolen out of Dubuque and pursued by Grinnell Police Department officers, was driven by 26-year-old Dubuque man Joshua Begle.
“The driver was Begle and he was passing when he dropped two tires off onto the pavement, the two left-side tires, into the median,” said ISP Lt. Robert Hansen. “When he pulled the wheel to correct, he overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to go out-of-control and go into the (north) ditch of the interstate.”
Hansen said two of the three men were flown by helicopter for medical treatment.
“Two of the three were seriously injured … Begle and Davis,” he said. “They were flown to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.”
The Monday crash is being investigated by Iowa State Patrol, while Grinnell Police is investigating the preceding chase.
