New fourth ward voting location chosen

Redeemer Lutheran Church to be ready for June 5 primary

Marshall County Auditor and Recorder Nan Benson announced Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Center St., as the new voting location for Marshalltown’s fourth ward voters.

Benson made the announcement at Tuesday’s Marshall County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a statement was released by her office the same day.

“We will be mailing out voter registration cards to the approximately 4,000 voters that this impacts, so that they are informed of that move,” Benson said. “It was previously located at First Baptist Church.”

She said the change is effective immediately, and that it will be where fourth ward voters go for the June 5 primary.

Additionally, Benson said the building will be inspected for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance ahead of the June election.

“Churches, typically, are very handicap accessible; (Redeemer Lutheran) has got a really good entry for that purpose, so they’ve kind of got that taken care of for us,” she said. “I’m not anticipating anything that we will need to to with that location, just from our first couple look-throughs.”

Redeemer Lutheran Church is located less than a mile west of the previous First Baptist Church polling location.

According to Tuesday’s press release, those with questions about the move are encouraged to call Benson’s office at (641) 754-6302
