Trustees to manage Water Works until new CEO is hired

Marshalltown Water Works trustees will manage the utility until a new Chief Executive Officer/General Manager is hired.

That was the brief announcement made to the Times-Republican Tuesday by trustee Kenn Vinson.

Joining him as trustees are Laura Eilers and Jerry Young. Eilers is a local attorney with Peglow, O’Hare and See. Young is a local banker.

The move was made at Monday’s board meeting and became necessary after the death of CEO/GM Steve Sincox last week.

“We will not be hiring an interim CEO/GM,” said Vinson. “Steve was so well organized the trustees feel confident in management until a new CEO/GM is hired.”

Sincox, an Ottumwa native, had been hired by MWW in 1995, and became CEO in December 2008.

He previously served as Director of Water Distribution, said Pat Willey of MWW, and had succeeded long-time CEO/GM Leon Lamer, who retired.
