A local woman was arrested for domestic abuse assault impeding flow of air/blood by Marshalltown police earlier this week, according to MPD and Marshall County District Court records. Andrea Josephine Pirtle, 26, became involved in a physical confrontation with the victim, had her hands around his throat and almost caused him to lose consciousness. Police reports said the defendant’s 8-year old child had to pull the victim away. In her initial appearance Thursday in Marshall County District Court, Pirtle also answered to charges of child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. A Marshall County Magistrate issued a no contact order against the defendant, meaning she can not contact the victim. The magistrate also appointed a public defender to represent her. Pirtle’s preliminary hearing is July 30.
