Lennox offices moving around town

Marshalltown Mall, other local buildings to host Lennox office, IT staff

T-R PHOTO BY ADAM SODDERS - Lennox human resources, materials, engineering, finance, quality and operations staff are set to move to this office space at the Marshalltown Mall soon. The target date for the move is Aug. 17, and the offices are currently being housed at Iowa Valley Continuing Education.

The Lennox plant on the east side of town continues in cleanup and recovery, but office staff have to go somewhere to keep things operating smoothly in the meantime.

Right now, much of the staff has found a temporary home at Iowa Valley Continuing Education at 3702 S. Center St., but are getting set to move in the coming days.

“We’re actually going to be in three different locations,” said Lennox spokesperson Phil Gee. “A lot of the administrative and management folks will be moving to the mall from the community college.”

Among the offices set to move to the Marshalltown Mall, 2500 S. Center St., are human resources, materials, engineering, quality and operations, he said. The target date for the move is Aug. 17.

“Some of our IT (information technology) support and IT folks will be moving to two different locations — Structural Engineering LLC and also Iowa Valley Education and Training Center,” Gee said. “They’re kind of splitting off a little bit to make sure everybody’s fully accommodated.”

He said operations continue as possible on the manufacturing side of the business.

“We were able to begin manufacturing parts a week after the tornado hit, seven days exactly,” Gee said. “We’re working with Belfor, the contracting company that’s up there. We’ve got a small army of folks that are working up there daily.”

He said cleanup and recovery planning are under way at the plant.

“We’re also considering beginning the process of the repair work as well,” Gee said.

The local Lennox location saw some of the most significant damage from the July 19 tornado. Despite the damage, officials announced a few days after the tornado that they plan to rebuild in Marshalltown.
