LE GRAND — It will be an activity-packed day in Le Grand Saturday as the summer Pioneer Days festival returns this year after a hiatus in 2017.

The festivities kick off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, followed by registration for the “Smile for Mason” 5k run at 7:15 a.m. A car and motorcycle show will begin at 9 a.m.

The local library will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Craft vendors will also be open during that time period.

At 11 a.m., the festivities will kick into full gear with a grand parade. This year’s grand marshal is Linda Weitzall. Little Miss and Mister Pioneer Days Tori Mauseth and Logan Kremer-Awes will also take part in the parade.

Le Grand Fire and EMS will hold a fundraiser lunch following the parade at noon. At 12:30 p.m., there will be a K-9 demo and Kingdom Klowns. Volleyball and horseshoe tournaments will commence at 1 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., festival-goers can enjoy a dunk tank, face painting and a bounce house. The Blank Park Zoo, Heart of Iowa Sweet Adelines and Cornflake Cloggers will be available for visitors that afternoon as well.

The Olde Main Beer Garden will be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and a fireworks display is scheduled for dusk to round up festivities.
