Contractor and weather issues will delay occupancy of the joint Marshalltown Police Department/Fire Department facility until March 1, 2019 according to a statement Tuesday from Public Works Director Justin Nickel. At a meeting last week, Story Construction of Ames — the construction manager — and contractors reevaluated the remaining work prior to occupancy. This scheduling application indicates the building will not be complete until approximately March 1. This new date is approximately two months behind schedule.
The city planned schedule anticipated occupancy of Jan. 1, 2019 throughout the design and construction process. Regardless, construction continues on the not-to-exceed $17.5 million headquarters located in the 900 block of South Second Street. The building was designed by Prochaska and Associates of Omaha, Nebraska. For more information, contact Nickel, 641-754-5734.
