A Marshalltown woman was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail by Marshalltown police earlier this week on domestic assault and child endangerment charges.

Two criminal complaint and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court against Chelsea Lynette Ruiz, 23, said she assaulted the father of her child by biting, grabbing, scratching and hitting him on the head. The victim was holding their child during the assault, which resulted in the child endangerment charge.

The incident took place at a residence in the 800 block of North Fifth Avenue. A no contact order was filed against the defendant by a Marshall County District Court Magistrate, meaning the defendant can not contact the victim. The defendant’s preliminary hearing is Sept. 14.
