A leading tool manufacturer in Marshalltown is expanding its headquarters and will hire a number of new employees in the near future. MARSHALLTOWN Company broke ground in September for the 60,000 square foot building project that is adjacent to the existing headquarters at 104 S. Eight Ave.

The new two-story building is expected to open next spring and will support professionals that specialize in engineering, finance, human resources, sales, marketing and information technology. The space will include private offices, manufacturing and room for expansion.

“We are committed to the Marshalltown community and are proud to invest in expanding the city and attracting families here,” Joe Carter, president and chief executive officer of MARSHALLTOWN since 1998 said. “We are creating a modern office space that will support our company’s growth with a productive and comfortable working environment for our employees.”

MARSHALLTOWN currently has two locations, Marshalltown and Fayetteville, Ark. The company was founded in 1890 and was the pioneer in high grade finishing trowels. In fact, the first MARSHALLTOWN trowel was created for a worker building the Marshall Country Court House. The trowel was so well made that word travelled fast and orders quickly poured in.

Formerly known as Marshalltown Trowel, the company changed its name in 2003. The company had grown steadily and had long since become more that just a “trowel” supplier. MARSHALLTOWN now offers more than 6,500 products for professionals and do-it-yourselfers in asphalt, brick, concrete, drywall, EIFS, flooring, paint, plaster, stucco, tile, carpet and wallpaper, as well as an expanded equipment offering. To its customers and others in the industry, the company is known for superior quality tools and it is known by one name — MARSHALLTOWN.

A long way from the small machine shop that began 128 years ago, MARSHALLTOWN is now one of the largest tool manufacturers in the world. Despite it’s growth and innovation, the company has stayed true to it’s roots does not mean it hasn’t changed. MARSHALLTOWN continues to make major improvements to its infrastructure, manufacturing and distribution processes to ensure that it can continue to serve its customers well for the next 125 years.
