Man arrested for theft of dump trailer

Straley

A West Des Moines man was arrested by the Marshalltown Police and taken to Marshall County Jail last week on theft-second degree charges.

Anthony David Straley, 44, attempted to sell a stolen dump trailer for $1,500 to a business in the 800 block of East Main Street, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court.

The business owner checked the trailer’s vehicle identification number and confirmed it had been stolen from a Marion business. The defendant left the scene and the trailer at the East Main Street business when the owner told the defendant he was going to check the VIN to make sure it was not stolen.

Straley was later positively identified by the local business owner. The original owner of the trailer confirmed the defendant had worked for him briefly.

Theft-second degree is a Class D felony.
