Man arrested by Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force
A local man was arrested by the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force on a warrant stemming from charges filed in November 2018.
Five criminal complaints and affidavits filed in Marshall County District Court identified Zacheriah Kenneth Dixon, 23, as being charged with a controlled substance violation (a Class D felony), keeping premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation, unlawful possession of prescription drug and two charges of possession of controlled substance first offense.
During a search, investigators discovered a backpack at a residence in the 200 block of South Third Avenue. It contained items with the defendant’s name inside. Investigators found eight dosage units of acetaminophen and codeine pills, a Schedule III and V controlled substance. A pill bottle with no label was also discovered during the search. It contained two-50 milligram dosage units of Tramadol Hydrochloride, a Schedule IV substance. Additionally, investigators found a jar containing approximately 21.65 grams of marijuana, electronic scales, grinders and baggies.
A magistrate set bond for defendant at $5,000 cash/surety and also appointed a public defender to represent him. The defendant’s preliminary hearing is Feb. 8.
