A man being held in Marshall County Jail for felony drug charges and possession of burglar’s tools now also faces burglary charges.

Dustin Reed Susie, 32, of Marshalltown has been arrested for alleged burglaries at several locations across Marshalltown.

“Between the dates of March 4, 2019 and March 10, 2019, multiple burglaries to local businesses and to a private residence on the northwest side of Marshalltown were reported to the Marshalltown Police Department,” a police statement released Thursday afternoon reads.

Susie was charged with six counts of burglary in the third degree, which is a class D felony. He allegedly burglarized the following six Marshalltown locations: Haley’s Deli Barbeque and Catering, Godfrey Motors Inc., Sally Beauty Supply, OJ’s Diner, McCall Monument and a private residence.

The statement said the “prompt reporting of business personnel and the resident, the thorough response of Marshalltown Police Department Patrol Division and the investigative assistance of the Marshalltown Police Department Detective Division” helped lead to the arrest.

Susie is being held in jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond for these charges and has additional bond amounts for the previous charges, according to police information.

A class D felony is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $750 to $7,500 under Iowa Code.
