A rare piece of history

A limited edition print of the Marshall County Courthouse is now hanging in Marshalltown’s city hall. Ron and Connie Fisher, who own and operate Relics Midwest, 406 S. First Ave., acquired the painting. The two let Mayor Joel Greer reclaim it for city hall. Greer and Connie Fisher are shown holding the painting.

In 1978, 1,000 prints of the painting were sold and funds raised went toward remodeling two rooms in the courthouse’s tower. Throughout the building’s history, several initiatives have called for renovations rather than demolition.

The courthouse is 133 years hold this year and is under significant repair from the 2018 tornado.
