Child endangerment charges filed against man
Marshalltown police arrested and transported to Marshall County Jail a local man on charges of child endangerment and domestic abuse assault-display use of a weapon.
Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Marion Street Sunday on a possible case of domestic abuse, Capt. Brian Batterson said. During the investigation, officers determined Oscar Miguel Nunez-Cabrera, 26, struck the victim with a flashlight. However, the victim did not require hospitalization. The incident was witnessed by a child, resulting in the child endangerment charge.
During the defendant’s initial hearing Monday, a magistrate ordered the defendant held on $2,000 cash only bond and issued a no contact order protecting the victim, The magistrate also appointed the defendant a public defender. The defendant’s preliminary hearing is May 9.
