Despite the rainy weather, hundreds of children and their guardians flocked to the Marshalltown Public Library Tuesday afternoon for its annual Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros – Children’s Day/Book Day. Activities included a parachute game, bean bag toss, magic tricks, games, crafts, snacks and prizes. Every child got to take home a free book including Jack Cross, 5. The event, free and open to the public, coincides with the 100th anniversary of Children’s Book Week (April 29-May 5).
