Local woman charged with insurance fraud

DES MOINES – A Marshalltown woman has been charged with insurance fraud.

Deborah Specht, 59, was charged with one count of fraudulent submissions, a Class D felony, and one count of theft first degree, a Class C felony, following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau in cooperation with the Marshalltown Police Department.

The charges against Specht stem from an investigation beginning December 2018. It is alleged Specht submitted a fraudulent insurance claim to her insurance company and received reimbursement through her policy. On Monday, Specht was arrested by MPD and booked into the Marshall County Jail.
