Marshalltown man Anthony Carty, 19, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault, willful injury, obstruction of emergency communications and more.

Carty was arrested in the 300 block of South Third Street around 11:46 a.m. Friday, according to Marshalltown Police records.

Police were sent to the scene on a report that the victim was “going to die,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Marshall County District Court. Police found the victim assaulted by the defendant when they arrived. The victim said that while she was being assaulted by the defendant, the defendant removed the phone from the wall so she couldn’t call 911.
