One person facing serious injuries in Highway 30 crash
One person is facing serious injuries after a crash on Highway 30 outside of Marshalltown Tuesday afternoon.
A semi rear-ended a tractor pulling a mower, Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Nathan Ludwig said. The person on the tractor was trapped and had to be removed by first responders. The individual was taken to Des Moines via air ambulance.
The tractor was using the appropriate hazard lights, Ludwig said, and both were traveling eastbound. The semi driver was not injured.
Local law enforcement also assisted at the scene. The crash happened on Highway 30 between Center Street and 18th Avenue, according to a Marshalltown Police Facebook post shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. The crash impacted both eastbound lanes and caused congestion.
The accident is still under investigation.
