Halfway House escapees face identity theft charges

Two men who escaped the Iowa Department of Corrections Marshalltown Residential Facility last month — commonly known as the “halfway house” — face additional charges of identify theft.

Joshua Lee Davis, 30, and Jack Lewis Good, 46, were in Marshall County District Court Friday to answer to the felony charges. According to criminal complaints and affidavits filed in court, the two stole credit cards belonging to New Hope Christian Church and charged at least $1,500.

On July 23, Lewis and Good signed out of the halfway house to seek employment, with a scheduled return of 4:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. a Department of Correctional Service probation officer requested an arrest warrant be issued. Before being apprehended by Marshalltown police shortly thereafter, the two stole a van and credit cards. Both remain in Marshall County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.

Starting at $4.38/week.
