Edgar Mosqueda-Meza, 34, was arrested by Marshalltown police and taken to Marshall County Jail Tuesday on charges of domestic abuse.

Mosqueda-Meza grabbed the victim by the arms and left bruising and slapped her in the face, according to the court documents.

During his initial appearance Wednesday, a magistrate judge ordered him held in jail without bond.

He was appointed a public defender. The magistrate also issued a no contact order to protect the victim. The preliminary hearing for Mosqueda-Meza is Oct. 4.
