Second MPD/MFD open house slated for Wednesday
Local residents and Central Iowans who missed the first MPD/MFD open house Sept. 24, can attend a second, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the facility, 909 S. Second St. Attendees will see a state-of-the-art building. Chief of Police Mike Tupper and Fire Chief David Rierson believe nearly two years of construction, two public bond referendums, and numerous public forums were worth the wait. The project was budgeted at a maximum cost of $17.5 million. It has been under budget since the initial bids were let in 2017 and throughout the construction change-order process.
