Arrest leads to altercation with officer

Martinez-Rodriquez

Raymond Martinez Rodriquez, 21, of Marshalltown, was arrested by Marshalltown police Wednesday and taken to jail on charges of interference with official acts-inflicting bodily injury, and fourth degree criminal mischief.

On Wednesday, police responded to a tavern on Turner Street upon reports of damage to a vehicle. Police then went to the Martinez Rodriquez residence for questioning.

He became uncooperative with police after they told him he was under arrest for tearing the mirror off the vehicle and throwing it at the windshield.

An officer suffered a sprained finger during the altercation with Martinez Rodriquez which did not require treatment at a medical facility, according to Capt. Brian Patterson of the MPD.

At his initial appearance Wednesday, a magistrate ordered Martinez Rodriquez held on $2,000 cash or surety bond, and assigned a public defender to represent him.

His preliminary hearing is Dec. 20.
