The North Third Avenue Dairy Queen marks the end of an era within the store this week.

Many know that the topping bar is original to this DQ…installed in 1947 and still operating with the original 1947 freezer. The Wollam family, owners, have decided that 72 years is long enough and it’s time to replace the topping bar and freezer.

Next week the North Third Avenue Dairy Queen will be closed from Dec. 9-13. Workers will be installing all new equipment that will make service faster, more accurate and much more efficient. In the meantime, the public is invited to stop down and get one last sundae, malt, banana split or old fashioned soda made on the original topping bar before it is retired Sunday evening.
