Marshall County Sheriff deputies and State Center Fire & EMS services responded to a fatal car crash on Saturday night.

Glen Lyall, 69, of State Center, was driving a vehicle which crashed into and sheared off a light pole near the intersection of Third Avenue Southwest and Fifth Street Southwest.

The driver was unresponsive and was not breathing.

A statement released by Sheriff Steve Hoffman stated that preliminary information provided by the Marshall County Medical Examiner suggested Lyall experienced a critical medical event prior to the crash.

Alcohol and other substances are not believed to be a factor.

No other injuries were reported
