Man charged with theft

Travis John Kruse, 39, of Tripoli, was arrested by Marshalltown police on Tuesday on a warrant of charges of second degree theft, a Class D felony.

Kruse passed a number of checks at a Marshalltown retailer totaling more than $1,500 in October 2019, which were returned for insufficient funds.

“It was reported to us on Jan. 9,” Batterson said. “The business accepted and cashed checks from Kruse’s concrete company.”

Kruse signed a summons to appear in court Feb. 24.

A Class D felony punishable by a maximum prison term not to exceed five years which may be deferred or suspended unless forcible felony. A fine of at least $750 but not more than $7,500 may be imposed.
