They face charges of first degree harassment.

Capt. Brian Batterson with the Marshalltown Police Department said on Feb. 16 the women acquired photos of the victim in a state of undress without the victim’s knowledge or consent, posted them on the Internet and sent the images to at least 26 other people.

The women referred to the victim by name in the posts and used derogatory language about her.

Cooper contacted the victim after the photos were posted and harassed her.

Slinker also harassed the victim using derogatory language in text communications.

First degree harassment is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum prison term not to exceed two years which may be a jail sentence if not more than one year. A mandatory fine of at least $500 but not more than $5,000 may be imposed.

At her initial appearance Friday, Cooper was released under the supervision of the Department of Correctional Services. She is required to abide by all terms imposed.

Cooper’s preliminary hearing is March 12.
