New clothing store coming to Marshalltown

T-R PHOTO BY ANNA SHEARER Brittany Tow will open Brit Marie’s Country Boutique on Main St. in the coming weeks.

Many will be excited to hear there is a new women’s clothing store coming to Marshalltown’s Main Street.

Brit Marie’s Country Boutique will open by April 4 with a grand opening happening.

Brittany Tow, owner of Brit Marie’s Country Boutique, has been dreaming of opening up a store for a long time.

“I grew up here in rural Marshall County, so I was looking in the local towns but ultimately felt Marshalltown was a great place to be and with trying to help rebuild Main Street after the tornado,” she said.

Tow said she was driving down Main Street one day to see what stores were available for rent. She stopped into Hellberg’s Jewelers and found out there was an opening that had just become available.

“I see it as it was meant to be,” she said.

Tow grew up in rural Marshall County just south of LeGrand on her family’s farm. She graduated from East Marshall then got her bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Iowa State University. She is close to finishing her master’s degree, also from ISU.

Tow started the boutique in November of 2018 and attended many vendor events with her mobile trailer. She created an online shop two months ago.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to open up a boutique in Marshalltown as there is nothing like it here in town,” Tow said. “We will be carrying all women’s sizes. What is unique about my boutique is there are no sections in my store. You will find everything from regular to curvy.”
