Police department continues shooting investigation

Marshalltown Police Department investigators are working every day on gathering information about the Wednesday night shooting.

Chief of police Mike Tupper is confident the case will be resolved and whoever shot 22-year-old Johnqwez Deanthony Lewis of Marshalltown will be found.

Lewis died on scene. Another man, Devonte Allen Brookes, 27, of Marshalltown was injured.

Tupper said there is no evidence to suggest the public is at risk.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the investigation along with the Marshall County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, tips may be submitted by calling 641-753-1234, or via text messaging by texting the word “marshall” followed by the tip to CRIMES (274637), or online at www.marshallcountycs.com.

All tips are completely anonymous and could earn a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip results in an arrest.
