Cooling station to open at 2 p.m.

A cooling station will be open in Marshalltown on from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday. The cooling station will be located at DeJardin Hall on the campus of Marshalltown Community College.

COVID-19 screening is required prior to entry. Face coverings are mandatory. Please bring a mask or face covering. Social distancing protocols apply.

Transportation will be provided free of charge by Marshalltown Municipal Transit. Anyone wishing to use the bus service can get on any fixed route bus and transfer to the Purple Route at the Fisher Community Center. When the cooling station closes at 6:30 pm, riders will be transported to a drop-off point closest to their residence.

The cooling station is not a shelter. It will close promptly at 6:30 pm. Water will be available. Food will not be available. Due to COVID-19, there is limited capacity.

People must enter the college campus from the far north entrance. Drive around the dorm buildings and the back side of the college to access the DeJardin Hall site.
