Vegetative debris pickup ends Sept. 18

City street crews are nearly complete with a second pass of the community in regards to collection of vegetative debris.

The city will no longer collect tree damage debris after Sept. 18. If people have debris yet to be picked up, call Marshalltown Public Works at 641-754-5734 to schedule pickup before Sept. 18.

As a reminder, the city crews will not be collecting construction debris (i.e. shingles, boards, soffit, gutters, etc.) Citizens will be responsible for the disposal of this debris.

Also, city forces will not be collecting leaves and twigs raked to the curb. Citizens will be responsible for the disposal of this debris.

As a reminder, raking or blowing grass clippings, leaves, twigs or other yard waste into the curb and gutter is against city ordinance and can be subject to a civil infraction up to $750 per instance.

The Compost Facility is still free of charge for citizens of Marshalltown to dispose of vegetative debris. At this time, it is anticipated that regular fees to dump at the Compost Facility will be reinstated on Oct. 1.
