Marshalltown man arrested for string of burglaries

A Marshalltown man was the subject of a week’s long burglary and theft investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, which led to his arrest on Thursday.

Douglas L. Davis, 26, was arrested by a Marshall County Sheriff’s surveillance detail in conjunction with Polk County Deputies and Ankeny Police after following a suspect vehicle to All Star Concrete in Ankeny. It is believed Davis was in the act of burglarizing the business shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday. Davis is also suspected to have burglarized Absolute Concrete in Slater prior to his arrest in Ankeny.

Marshall County Sheriff Steve Hoffman said several central Iowa counties have had burglaries at construction and farm service businesses. Power tools were the primary object of theft.

“The arrest of Mr. Davis and subsequent search warrants appear to have resolved a number of burglaries in at least six central Iowa counties,” Hoffman said. “We also expect to file ongoing criminal conduct charge, as well.”

Davis also had three probation violation warrants. The investigation is ongoing and Davis remains in the custody of the Marshall County Jail without bond.
