T2K Nutrition to open a storefront

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO — T2K Nutrition owner Heather Niedermann started her business out of her home less than a year ago. She will be opening a store soon where she will sell Herbalife supplements.

Heather Niedermann’s health product business is growing fast.

She became an Herbalife distributor less than a year ago, selling Herbalife products out of her home in Marshalltown. Herbalife is a multi-level marketing company which sells dietary supplements like meal-replacement teas and shakes. Niedermann’s business, T2K Nutrition, is preparing to open a storefront. Niedermann did not disclose the location of the store because everything has yet to become official, but she said it is on the southern side of Marshalltown. She is targeting a March opening.

“It’s a prime, perfect location. It’s going to be very easily accessed and has a huge parking lot,” she said. “Once the lease is signed we’re going to transfer from our home to the club. It’s really exciting.”

Niedermann was introduced to Herbalife’s nutrition program about six years ago when her mother brought her to Ignite Nutrition in Albert Lea, Minn.

“My mom was drinking the shakes. I was interested in seeing my mom’s results, seeing how much weight she lost and how much better she was feeling,” she said. “I was very severely overweight at the time and it intrigued me.”

She started using the program and seeing positive results, meanwhile keeping the idea of branching off and getting involved as a distributor herself.

In May, 2020, Niedermann started T2K Nutrition. She said she had some skepticism about the idea but seeing the success of her coach at Ignite Nutrition encouraged her to take the leap.

“I saw Alicia and how she ran her club, the atmosphere and how happy everybody was coming in,” she said. “I’ve been envisioning it, I would say for five years.”

During the five years she was considering starting the business Niedermann was waiting for the timing to be right.

“Over the last several years I was getting custody of my nephew and that took a lot of time and energy,” she said. “I needed to be focused on him and getting him safe and in our home. I had to take care of family first and make sure the time was right for us as a family.”

Gaining traction for T2K Nutrition started with a simple Facebook post where Niedermann announced what she was doing and shared some of her results with the products.

“I saw the need and the want for it. I now have grown tremendously even in the last month and a half,” she said. “There’s a drive here in Marshalltown. The need is here for something healthier.”

At T2K Nutrition, Niedermann helps customers tailor a nutritional program specifically for them. This helps people know how much water, protein and calories they should be taking in to meet their goals.

After two weeks customers return to check on their progress.

Since opening last spring, T2K Nutrition has been operating out of the home of Niedermann and her husband Jamie on 310 Thomas Drive. It is open noon to12:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday which is when Niedermann has a lunch break from her full-time position as an assembly scheduler at Emerson. She also does one-on-one sessions and fitness classes in the evenings.

When the store opens hours will be expanded. Niedermann will continue with her full-time job but she has four coaches working under her who will help run the store, including Jesse Hall, Cimber Miller and Anna Stringer. There are more coaches she is training to join the business as well.

The next fitness class T2K Nutrition is holding will be a seven-day class starting Sunday, Feb. 1.
