A Marshalltown man was arrested and charged with felony sexual abuse on Dec. 4 in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in July.

According to court records, 37-year-old Theophilus King forced a sex act on a victim at a Marshalltown apartment on the night of July 20. Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) Lt. Tricia Thein said social media played a key role in the case leading up to King’s arrest.

King has been charged with Third Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C felony. Since his arrest, he has posted a $10,000 cash bond and been released. A trial date has not yet been set.
