In response to the recent winter weather, the Marshalltown Police Department wants to make locals aware of the parking regulations for winter storms.
Generally, the city would declare a winter storm emergency if two or more inches of snow are in the forecast, and an on-street parking ban would be put into place on designated snow routes. If a winter storm emergency is declared, no vehicles can be parked on these routes at the risk of a $30 fine and or towing at the owner's expense.
These snow routes are marked by red, white or blue street signs. A map of all snow routes can be found at https://www.marshalltown-ia.gov/423/Emergency-Snow-Routes.
Keeping cars off of snow routes during winter storm emergencies allows plow trucks to more effectively do their job and keep the streets clear.
