Marshalltown schools again break COVID case record

With 92 confirmed COVID-19 cases reported among students and employees at Marshalltown schools, the district hit another record high in back-to-back weeks.

On Friday, the Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) reported 78 student cases and 14 employee cases.

Last week, the district reported 55 new cases with 42 among students and 13 among employees, which was the highest number of confirmed cases since September 2021. The case count at that time was 42.

The district began issuing weekly reports about COVID-19 cases in the fall of 2020 to meet a crucial need to “keep our community informed regarding COVID-19 cases, while also maintaining the privacy of individual students and employees.”

The next report will be issued on Jan. 21.
