UnityPoint family medicine clinic moving to Nicholas Drive

UnityPoint Health Family Medicine – Marshalltown will move to a new clinic location at 303 Nicholas Dr. to accommodate its growing number of patients and providers.

The building, which is three blocks west of the mall, is about a mile north of the new hospital and roughly 10 blocks south of the express clinic that opened last year.

The new family medicine clinic will begin seeing patients on April 25. The existing clinic will be closed on April 21 and 22 as it makes the move to the new facility. The clinic’s answering service will accept and monitor calls during those closed dates from patients with urgent needs or questions.

The move to a separate facility is exciting news for the family medicine office as a result of recent growth. This announcement means the family medicine clinic will be operating in a different building than the rest of the UnityPoint Health hospital, which moves into its newly expanded facility in late April.

When UnityPoint Health first announced plans in December 2019 for its $38.4 million hospital expansion project just south of the intersection of Highways 30 and 14, the family medicine clinic was expected to have a place in the north wing. Now that space will be made available for lease.

“UnityPoint Clinic has seen tremendous growth in our family medicine clinics within the last three years,” said Carolyn Barko, Regional Vice President of Clinic Operations for UnityPoint Clinic. “Expanding our footprint outside the walls of the new hospital gives us the flexibility to continue to expand.”
