Drug task force serves more warrants on wanted individuals

The Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force served warrants on two more local individuals wanted on drug charges Thursday morning just over a week after six individuals were arrested in Marshalltown.

According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Guy Bown, age 46, and Keyana Vazquez-Stabenow, age 25, both of Marshalltown, were arrested. Bown stands charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance (meth) third or subsequent offense — a Class D felony, possession of a schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) third or subsequent offense — a Class D felony, prohibited acts — an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vasquez-Stabenow has been charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) — a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia — a simple misdemeanor.

Agents on the scene found evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana use in a camper where the suspects were living behind the residence. Officers seized methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia as a result of the search warrant.

The Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force was assisted with the execution of the search warrant by the MCSO, the Marshalltown Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol Area A TAC Team, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. Marshall County Sheriff Joel Phillips said the State Patrol’s tactical team was utilized because of Bown’s history of manufacturing methamphetamine and the potential for exposure to hazardous materials, although there was no evidence manufacturing had occurred on the property where he was ultimately arrested.

Hearing and trial dates for both suspects have not yet been released.

Starting at $4.38/week.
