Supervisors approve fund transfer for courthouse project during special session
T-R PHOTO BY SUSANNA MEYER — The board of supervisors approved a transfer of $3,375,000 from the general basic fund to the capital projects fund for courthouse renovation expenses during a brief special session Friday.
During a brief special session held at the election center on Friday morning, the Marshall County Board of Supervisors authorized the transfer of $3,375,000 from the general basic fund to the capital projects fund for courthouse renovation expenses.
According to County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson, the money comes from unspent balances in the general basic fund from prior years, and the transfer couldn’t be made until the money was needed. The county is now to the point with the courthouse project where insurance is being billed, so the county must first incur the expense and then bill the insurance company for reimbursement. The transfer will also cover the county’s share of the expenses on the reconstruction project, which is expected to wrap up later this year.
A motion to approve the transfer carried unanimously. There was no other business during the special session.
